January 27, 2008
The weather for January was dry and cold - perfect for running. Unfortunately the trail was very
icy in places, like a skating rink with bits of gravel sticking out. The bridges were especially
treacherous. Thirteen participants completed the 50K and three did the 25K.
Steve Walters and Tim Lawson took lots of pictures during the run - you can
view them here.
Thank you guys!

I also took a few photos.
It was dark at 7:45 when Steve, Tim and Monte started. I started an
hour later with Val after putting out the aid stations. She kept me
company for the first 25K. We had one brief snow-pellet shower. Monte
Steve, Tim and Max waited for me to finish. Mel Preedy took a break
half-way and finished after dark.
February 24, 2008
The weather for the February run was beautiful - cool and cloudy in the morning becoming
sunny by midday. We had fifteen 50K and four 25K runners, including two from Alberta and
one from Cleveland. Ater the race most of the 50K runners lingered in the sunshine at the
finish to eat vegan chili and swap running stories.
Thanks to Monte and Jesse and whomever brought the cashew and jam sandwiches for helping out.

Here are a few photos from the finish. You can find
a few more photos
here. Rich didn't quite catch up to his brother Rob, who took first place.
Monte won the LPA trophy but Lorie and Barry were the last runners in. They
also had the longest drive home, back to eastern BC. Runners lingered at the
finish. Lunch was interrupted briefly when the stove erupted (due to operator
error) but runners returned to the food even before the flames died out.
