The boys and I did our own road trip through Oregon and Northern California then picked up Susan in Reno and continued south through Nevada to Las Vegas and over to Death Valley before heading home again. With daytime highs over 100F (peaking at 123F in Death Valley) we almost had to turn on the heat when we reached Oregon and it was only 95F outside. Memorable moments included running a 5K in Shasta, Daniel's tent blowing into the lake near Reno, an epic hike up Bridge Mountain in Las Vegas, dangerously hot doorhandles in Death Valley and dead sheep scattered across the road on a pass in the Sierras.
