This is the other face of the same piece. Note how the color follows the cracks. The blue-gray color of the agate is caused by fine particles of iron which rust where oxygen is able to diffuse into the rock from cracks or from the surface. Not sure how long that takes, but more than a few years I suspect, and perhaps only when the agate is still exposed to heat. Non-rusty cracks may have formed later.
