Hike in the Coyote Buttes North BLM management area in southern Utah
Coyote Buttes North is an area of fantastic sandstone formations in southern Utah about 40 miles east of Kanab. A permit from the BLM Pariah ranger station is required to enter the area and access is restricted to about 20 people per day. The highlight is a short wind-carved gully of striped sandstone called "The Wave" but there are many other amazing oddites to discover in the area. David and I wandered around for about ten hours taking photographs and marveling at the strange structures eroded in the sandstone by wind and water.
