I enjoy pottery because it combines both beauty and functionality. I am attracted to the diversity I see in nature, from a lichen-covered slab of gneiss on a White Mountain peak to the arid landscape of the Mojave Desert. There is an aspect of uncertainty in ceramics that emulates natural diversity because the glazes come out of the kiln looking different each time. The pieces are functional as well as beautiful. I use one of my bowls for breakfast in the morning and one of my mugs for tea in the evening. They make convenient gifts too.

Here is a sampling of my pieces from spring and summer, 2006.
