Runners started from the Landsburg trailhead at 7:30AM on a snowy morning; a half inch
of snow fell overnight, dusting the trees and the trail. The course this year consisted
of 4 3.78 mile laps out to the missing bridge over Upper Dorre Don Way and back, followed
by a 0.4 mile out and back to make 50. By the third lap the snow had turned to slush which
had mostly melted by the time the runners finished. No runners chose to soak their legs
in the clear green waters of the Cedar River after the race but most hung around
the aid station to eat hot chili and hot chocolate before heading home.
Special thanks to Dan Pfunder for providing roving aid on the course on his bicycle, and to Eric Barnes, race photographer.

Runners with "Double" after their times completed a 50K yesterday as well. Van probably would have done the double as well but she was the race director for yesterday's run. Also, the course for Jan 25 may have been a little long.

For February we supported several course options. Eric Barnes hosted a Yours Truly 50K course on
the Foothills trail in Pierce county; results for that course are listed separately. On the Cedar
River trail some runners did 4 short laps down to the missing Dorre Don Way bridge and back; others
did 2 long laps down the Cedar River trail past the missing bridge and out the Lake Wilderness trail
to the Four Corners area; a few runners did one long and two short laps. Runners doing the short
laps did an extra little out and back to make up the full 50K distance. Results for all the Cedar
River trail variations are posted together since the courses are similar in gradient and difficulty
(or lack thereof).
The weather started out a bit damp but quickly improved and ended up in the mid-50's with a fair amount of sunshine, really a beautiful afternoon. Most runners on the Cedar River course hung around after the race for chili and hot chocolate. A few hardy folks cooled their heels (and even their quads) in the Cedar River as well - an excellent recovery strategy if you can handle it.
Nobody took photos, as far as I know.
