Welcome to the 2008 Light at the End of the Tunnel marathon

We are looking forward to hosting all of you for the Light at the End of the Tunnel marathon and we think you'll have a great run. It will be warm though, especially in the second half, so we're putting extra water and Gatorade on the course - about a gallon of fluid altogether for each runner. Although the day will be warm, the tunnel will still be cold so run fast or wear a lightweight jacket. You can leave it at the first aid station along with your flashlight.
Last minute instructions
Please plan to show up early at the finish area to catch a bus to the start. Buses will leave the finish area at 6:00AM, 6:30AM and 7:10AM. Early starters should catch the 6:00AM bus. Note that this bus schedule is a change from the original two bus plan in order to accomodate the early start. You'll check in and get your bib at the start. You'll also get a drop bag there which you can leave at the start, and a flashlight bag so you can drop your flashlight and jacket at the first aid station as you exit the tunnel.
Remember this is a trail run. Aid stations are a little farther apart than in most road marathons (3-4 miles) and most are self-service. Gatorade and water are in jugs with spigots but you'll need to fill your own cup or bottle. Cups are provided so you don't have to carry a bottle, though due to the warm temperatures and distance between aid stations, we suggest you carry a bottle anyhow.
Consider carrying gels as well. Gels will be available at mile 13 and maybe also at mile 22, but we're only figuring 2 per runner so if you typically use more than that, you should carry them with you.
If you're carrying a cell phone, add my cell number (253-350-1651) to your contacts. I'll carry my phone and will do my best to resolve any issues you encounter. I'm currently planning to run the course starting about an hour later than the regular start so hopefully I'll see a few of you along the way, as well as at the start and finish.
