We parked at the ski area and hiked up the Bullion Basin trail to the first big switchback, then climbed more or less directly up the hill, soon emerging on the open slope visible on the left from the access road. Exposed to the wind, we quickly got cold and put on clothes. A rather tame pair of Mountain Chickadees were foraging in the young firs so I dug out the 300 f4 and took a few photos. We stopped for lunch in the sunshine about 3/4 of the way up, then continued on snowshoes to the top of the ridge - much snowier up there than down below. We lingered too long and had to hurry back down.
