I ran the Pocatello marathon with a dozen other Maniacs on Labor Day weekend. We started before sunrise on a beautiful clear day - watched the Alpha Aurigid meteor shower while waiting for busses to shuttle us to the start and saw several nice fat slow meteors during the half hour before dawn. Scenery along the first half of the course was beautiful - meadowed hillsides backlit by the rising sun. The second half was less inspiring so I focused on running, finished with an avg pace of just under 10 min/mile, not bad considering I ran a fast race the weekend before.

The finish line, an even more welcome sight. I had to push hard to come in under 4:22. Good support at the finish. The post-race massage, by physical therapy students at the local college, was one of the best I've ever had.
