On 8/12/07 I ran the Haulin Aspen marathon in Bend OR with lots of other Maniacs. Weather was sunny and cool, the course scenic and well-marked, the food at the finish excellent and the stream by the finish just cold enough. The first half of the course is mostly on logging roads and gains 2500' in elevation. The last 12 miles are all downhill on single-track trails, lots of fun to run. I ran much of the race with Chris Warren who had run Crater Lake the day before - the only reason I was able to keep up with him. I felt strong and finished in just under 4:19.
