If it weren't for the prospect of being able to put QUADZILLA! on my
Maniac All Time Streak Record I don't think I would have gotten out of bed. It was cold, dark and raining outside and I hadn't signed up for the race in advance because I wasn't even sure I'd complete the triple, let alone Quadzilla. Monte Pascual #438 and I carpooled down. Lots of Maniacs, not too many others. Pleasant rural route (though cold, windy and wet), a double out-and-back. Running with Jon Yoon #467 passed the time at a good pace and though a little sore at times I took 20 minutes off my time from yesterday.

We arrived shortly after Bob and his crew did so we helped set up. In turn, Bob let us start early and worked quickly to get the route marked and aid stations set up for us.

Monte, Jon and I ran the Auburn Yours Truly 50K back in February on a day much like today - cold, windy and raining.

Tony (*tc) usually runs ultras but perhaps he is turning over a new leaf and running marathons now. He'll finish second behind Gregg.

Cold and windy but at least the rain has let up a little. The wind on the other hand picked up to 10-20mph, in our faces on the "out" and behind us on the "back" of the out-and-back course.

One of my only scenery shots of the race. It was a nice course on a lightly traveled road with wide shoulders past hayfields, cow pastures, woodlots and the occasional house.

I finished in just under four hours, or 3:30 on the clock. I think the course was a little short though; the turnaround was only about 0.45 miles after the 6-mile marker, for a total distance (assuming the mile markers were correct) of 25.8 miles.
