Nature photos, NH, June 2009
Photos, mostly of birds, from our visit to my folks in Jackson NH during the first week of June 2009. Most of these were shot with the Nikon 70-300mm zoom which isn't ideal for birds but is still better than anything else I've used, or can afford at this point in time. The weather was beautiful every day and the birding pretty good too - 16 different warblers for starters. A peregrine circled over the house one morning and I managed to see both a scarlet tanager and a rose-breasted grosbeak, though the latter was a female.
The same Blackpoll warbler as the previous photo. Not very common on Doublehead, which is only 3000', but abundant in the fir and birch-fir forests from about 2500' up to timberline at 4800' on Mt Washington.
