"The Stump" consisted of small and large chunks of petrified wood separated by areas of crumbly silicified "sawdust" and clay-rich soil. This was a small chunk. Some of the larger chunks must have been over 500lbs, too solid to break and to big for us to move, although someone apparently moved them because on subsequent visits they were gone.
